Priority Assessment
Priority Assessment is the name of a monitoring action meant to establish the ecological priorities of an ecologically significant area through a field work.
For BomFuturo this project will consist of several ecological surveys, concerning the territory and the wildlife species, animal and plants.
An exhaustive picture of the overall bio-diversity in the area can only be obtained by performing such crucial monitoring action: it will provide descriptions of limnology and soil composition as well as of fauna and flora in the BomFuturo Preserve (fish and mammals, birds, reptiles and snakes, aquatic and terrestrial plants).
It will also provide the basis for any further conservation action, within the frame of the comprehensive management plan.
We are taking steps to form a team of Pantanal’s specialists who can co-operate on this task: contacts are in progress with scientists and researchers from the Federal University of Mato Grosso in Cuiaba and also with other specialists.
A thorough Priority Assessment program should be completed in each of the Pantanal’s main seasons, that’s to say during both the dry and rainy season.
